Is there any proof that your synthetic closure is better than a natural cork?
Yes, the extrusion manufacturing process produces a very consistent product. Consistency eliminates common occurences of "random oxidation", cork crumbs, cork dust and cork breakage. Synthetic 'corcs' contain no TCA, therefore there is no cork "taint".

Can I use regular type corkscrews?
Wines can be opened with all regular type corkscrews: butterfly, waiter’s helper, ahso and rapid puller.

Can this product be used with home winery equipment?

Yes, 'chamferred' closures are widely used by home/hobby wine makers and perform well with many floor hand corking equipment

Why is cell structure important?

A uniform cell structure provides consistent density therefore improving the protection of the wine.
The small, closed cell structure creates a better barrier against oxygen permeation.


Do we have to make modifications to our corking equipment?
No. This closure has been tested on a variety of different bottling lines and no changes need to be made. Some slight adjustments may be required when bottling with a vacuum pump. See our recommendations in the bottling guidelines.

Does your cork absorb any aroma or flavor of the wine?
No, The product has been tested worldwide in private winery sensory evaluations and in various University and Research Institutes.
How should I store the bottles after bottling?
You may store your bottles: neck up, down or horizontal. This closure recovers so quickly that bottles may be inverted to neck down storage immediatley after bottling.

What are the benefits of using the Nomacorc ?

What is TCA?
TCA (short for Trichloroanisol) is a chemical agent commonly found in bark cork. When wine is contaminated with TCA it will taste of wet, musty cardboard.

What is the difference between a wine being corked and a wine being tainted?
Taint occurs from random oxidation (oxygen permeation). "Corked" is the common name for wine contaminated by TCA.

What is the difference between extruded and injection-molded synthetic closures?
Extrusion is a continuous process that produces very consistent production quality. Injection molding is a batch process that can be slower with less consistency. With injection molding, there can also be varying degrees of density, size and cell-size, which may result in variable protection of the wine.

Where does your product come from?
The manufacturer, Nomacorc has plants in North Carolina, USA and Belgium. Other distributors and agents are located in all wine producing countries.
